“Growing Up Grey” -Basic Grey 101 meshed with valuable and insightful advice specific to African grey parrots and common to many species!  Thanks to the dedication of Dr. Irene Pepperberg and many others, research has shown that African grey parrots are incredibly
smart and sentient beings. Due to the grey parrot’s reputation, it is also one
of the most   popular pet birds worldwide. In recent years, there have been a
large number of grey parrots needing new homes later in life. Is this because
people are not prepared to care for such a special species, or is it that the
information out there has not been tailored to the grey parrot and we, in some
way, have failed them?  With 36 years’ experience of living with different
species of parrots and spending the past two decades  learning from and caring
for the African grey parrot species, Lisa will share her insight to help the
African grey community understand their companion grey parrot.  The presentation
will cover how to raise a well-adjusted companion, thoughts behind phobias and
fears, specific body language, personal research and experiences, when baby
becomes his own bird, behavior, nutrition and health.
