African grey parrots are one of the most popular species kept as companions parrots worldwide. Many behaviors we see with our pet African grey parrots are genetically programmed for survival just like their wild cousins. Being domestically raised and living with humans will not change something that is instinctual, but they may evolve into usable behaviors with different meanings once in our home.

Due to grey parrots being popular we are finding more birds needing placement later in life. This could be due to various reasons such as change of lifestyle, loss of caregiver or an owner simply giving  them up due to behavioral issues. With the right set of tools, understanding and training we can help these birds adapt and flourish  in their new homes as well as teach baby from the start to be a confident, well-rounded family member.

As a Certified Parrot Behavior Consultant,(IAABC.org)  I am here to help you understand your companion grey.  Behavior information/modification has not been tailored to be species specific and I am here to change that. Grey parrots are a unique, amazing, intelligent beings and their medical, emotional & dietary needs as well as  thought process, are just as special.
